Who can contribute to a candidate?
Individuals who reside in Manitoba can contribute to candidates for Mayor and/or Councillor.
What is the maximum amount that can be contributed to a councillor candidate?
The total contribution limit by an individual, in money, goods or services, to any registered candidate for Councillor is $750.00.
Can I get a rebate for a contribution made to a candidate for Councillor?
Yes. Contributors are eligible to receive a rebate from the City of Winnipeg.
- For total contributions between $25.00 and $300.00, the rebate is 75% of the contribution
- For total contributions between $301.00 and the maximum amount of $750.00, the rebate is $225.00 plus 50% of the difference between the contribution and $300.00.
